Welcome to HappyPorkers

Here at HappyPorkers (Cwmavon Herd) we raise pedigree rare breed Tamworth pigs and we are proud to be able to offer you the oportunity to sponser a slow grown pig, full of flavour, for you and your familys table with the knowledge the pig has lived a happy free range life.

The pigs spend the majority of their time outdoors running free in our woods, routing around as only a pig nose best, in small family groups. Feasting on the acorns, beech mast, bugs, worms and anything else they can unearth. Their diet is supplemented with sow rolls, fruit and vegetables.

The sows only venture into the barn when its time to give birth, this is called farrowing, usually a couple of days before the sow is due. This ensures the best start for the little piglets.

At 3 weeks old they and their mother are returned to the woods for a stress free life, the way nature intended.

Meet The Family

aka - Alis

Alis was the first breading sow on the farm, she arrived 8 weeks old. She is renowned for escaping from electric fencing and can easily clime a dry stonewall to get into the orchard for the apples. Alis is really friendly and a fantastic mother.

aka - Betsi

Betsi arrived on the farm earlier this year and is 3 years old. We rescued her from going to slaughter. She had her first litter with us earlier this year. Besti loves the outdoor life after her early years of being reared indoors.

aka - Ceri

Ceri is half sister to Delyth, they were born a day apart to different mums. She is 15 months old and had her first litter in early August. She loves swimming in water troughs.

aka - Delyth

Delyth is Ceri's half sister, she had her first litter 3 weeks before Ceri and produced a staggering 9 healthy piglets. She is an excellent mother and managed to escaped with her piglets from the barn when they were 2 weeks old to the green field.
